Shape of Dreams Release Date
Shape of Dreams launched on PC on 11 September 2025 and reached PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on 17 September 2026. Here is the full timeline.
Shape of Dreams is out on every platform it will ever need. The PC version launched on 11 September 2025, and the console versions followed on 17 September 2026. The console release was not a port of the old build: it arrived on the same day as the first anniversary update, so the version you download already includes a year of changes.
Every release date in order
| Platform | Date | What else happened that day |
|---|---|---|
| PC (Steam) | 11 September 2025 | Full launch out of early access |
| PC (Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 | 17 September 2026 | Xbox Game Pass day-one entry and the Starless Path v1.4 update |
The PC date is written as 11 September 2025 on the Steam store page. One English news write-up used 10 September 2025 instead. The gap comes from time zones and store metadata rather than two separate launches, so neither number is a mistake.
The update trail between the two launches
The version history explains why returning players find a different game than the one they left. Steam’s news archive lists these milestones:
- v1.1 “Empress of Pain” added official mod support and Steam Workshop.
- v1.2 “Luck and Destiny” added new challenge systems and a wide balance pass.
- v1.3 “Dreams Deepen” arrived in June 2026 as the first of two summer updates.
- v1.4 “The Starless Path” landed on 17 September 2026 with a new Traveler, a new progression system and a new ending.
- v1.4.0 followed on 21 September 2026 with fixes.
Current version and price, and why the sale is not the release date
As of 22 September 2026 the live build is v1.4 with the v1.4.0 patch applied. Steam shows a first anniversary sale at 30% off, which brings $24.99 down to $17.49 until 29 September 2026. The console launch discount is 20% off, or $19.99, ending 1 October 2026. Those windows are promotions, not release dates, and they change.
How to confirm any of this yourself
- Open the Steam store page and read the Release Date line in the details block.
- Open Steam’s news hub for the game and check the date on the newest patch note.
- On a console store page, read the Release section of the product listing.
If a date on a third-party site disagrees with those three, treat the store page as correct.
